Lucknow, December 12, 2025: The Uttar Pradesh AYUSH Department has initiated departmental action against Dr. Ajay Kumar, the acting District Homeopathy Medical Officer (DHMO) of Ayodhya, following allegations of widespread irregularities in medicine procurement. The Principal Secretary of AYUSH, Ranjan Kumar, issued orders on Wednesday removing Dr. Ajay from his post and attaching him to the Sonbhadra District Homeopathy Office until the inquiry is completed.
According to the department, Dr. Kumar allegedly purchased medicines at Maximum Retail Price (MRP) despite them being available at 50–60% concession in the retail market. Additional accusations include purchasing medicines at inflated rates for commissions, bypassing tender norms, conducting quotation processes secretly, and procuring medicines outside the government-approved list.
The complaint was originally filed by social worker Avadhesh Tiwari, who flagged the alleged corruption at the district level. An inquiry conducted a year earlier had also found Dr. Ajay guilty, but no action was taken at the time. After Navbharat Times highlighted the issue in a report published on November 30, the government sought an explanation from the concerned officials.
Dr. Ajay Kumar has dismissed all allegations, claiming that he strictly followed all prescribed procedures in the procurement process.
