Lucknow, Feb 2:Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav over his criticism of the Union Budget 2026–27, dismissing the ‘PDA’ narrative as a political ploy aimed at misleading the masses while protecting the interests of a single ‘parivar’ (family).
Akhilesh Yadav had earlier alleged that the Union Budget had ignored the ‘PDA’—a term coined by him to refer to pichde (backward classes), Dalits and alpsankhyak (minorities).
Responding to media queries in Lucknow, Adityanath countered the claim, saying those raising such allegations must explain why their governments failed to uplift these sections when they were in power. He asserted that the “double-engine government” had ensured inclusive development, enabling nearly 25 crore people across the country, including six crore in Uttar Pradesh, to progress with dignity and self-respect.
“The PDA must have existed even during their tenure. What did they do for them then?” the chief minister asked, accusing the opposition of using divisive slogans instead of delivering concrete results.
Adityanath said the Union Budget reflected the Centre’s commitment to social justice and empowerment, adding that development initiatives under the BJP-led governments had reached all sections without discrimination.
