
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the UGC NET December 2025 result on 4 February 2026. The exam was conducted from 31 December 2025 to 7 January 2026, with approximately 7.35 lakh candidates appearing, marking a 71–72% attendance rate. Candidates who appeared in the University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) can check their results on the official website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

Provisional Answer Key and Objection Process
Earlier, NTA released the provisional answer key for UGC NET December 2025 on 14 January 2026. Candidates were allowed to raise objections until 17 January 2026. These objections were reviewed by subject experts, after which the final answer key and results are prepared.
Exam Subjects and Format
- UGC NET was conducted for over 80 subjects.
- The exam was online and held in two shifts:
- Shift 1: 9 AM – 12 PM
- Shift 2: 3 PM – 6 PM
- For subjects conducted in multiple shifts, NTA uses the equi-percentile method for normalization to ensure fairness. Scores are first calculated shift-wise and then merged. A special cut-off is applied uniformly across all candidates to account for any shift variations.
Categories of UGC NET Exam
UGC NET is conducted for three categories:
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Eligibility
- Appointment as Assistant Professor
- Admission to PhD Programs under different categories
Candidates qualifying under Category 2 and 3 can use their NET scores for PhD admissions, valid for one year from the result declaration date. Results will be released in percentile format, with raw or normalized marks provided for subjects conducted in multiple shifts.
