World’s First ‘Gold City’ Coming Up in Dubai, Featuring Iconic Gold Street

Dubai: Imagine walking through streets made of gold in a city dedicated entirely to the precious metal. That vision is becoming reality in Dubai, which is set to become home to the world’s first “Gold City.” Authorities have announced the upcoming launch of the New Dubai Gold District, aimed at transforming the emirate into a global hub for gold and jewelry.

At the heart of the project will be Gold Street, a unique road constructed entirely from gold. Designed as a major tourist attraction, the street will integrate retail and wholesale trading, bullion, and investment opportunities under one roof, creating a unified ecosystem for the gold and jewelry sector.

Officials expect over 1,000 gold retailers to operate in Gold Street, cementing Dubai’s reputation as the “City of Gold” and adding a new dimension to its status as a global commercial and tourist center. The initiative is part of Dubai’s effort to showcase its commercial heritage and strengthen its position as a global gold trading hub.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), a part of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, said, “Gold is deeply woven into Dubai’s cultural and commercial fabric. The Gold District and Gold Street will reflect our heritage, prosperity, and enduring entrepreneurial spirit.”

A preview video of the Gold District has already been released, with more details about plans, design, and developments to follow. This landmark project promises to elevate Dubai’s stature as a premier destination for gold enthusiasts and investors worldwide.
