World Saw Muhammad Yunus as a Saint, Not His Sinister Side: Former Bangladeshi Intelligence Officer Alleges Multi-Billion-Dollar Manipulations

Dhaka: Aminul Haque Polash, a former Bangladeshi intelligence officer and diplomat, has revealed shocking details about Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh’s interim government since August 2024. Polash, who went into exile after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, claims that Yunus’ publicly projected saintly image conceals a very different reality.

Polash spoke to News18 about his decade-long experience in Bangladesh’s national security and foreign service, exposing Yunus’ alleged financial manipulations, hidden power networks, and political ambitions. “The world sees a humble Nobel laureate working for rural women, but behind the scenes, his operations tell a completely different story,” Polash said.

Exile for Safety

Polash explained that after Yunus’ interim government took office, threats were made against him, including orders for his sudden recall from a diplomatic posting in India. “Returning to Dhaka would have been like heading towards death. Exile was my only option for survival,” he said.

Challenging the Micro-Credit Claim

Polash also challenged Yunus’ claim to have invented micro-credit. Documents, according to Polash, show that Yunus allegedly appropriated the idea, removed the names of the original creators—Swapan Adnan, Nasiruddin, and H.I. Latifi—and presented it as his own. Polash further accused Yunus of using multiple institutions under Grameen Bank to manipulate billions of dollars meant for poverty alleviation.

Alleged Misuse of Funds and Wealth Transfer

According to Polash, Yunus reportedly transferred assets worth approximately ₹100 crore to trusts personally controlled by him. These transfers were disguised as loans to reduce tax liabilities.

Legal Cases Dismissed

Polash claimed that after Yunus assumed office in August 2024, ongoing legal cases against him were withdrawn, including a major case by the Anti-Corruption Commission. Yunus himself allegedly terminated five other pending cases.

Nepotism and Power Consolidation

Polash also highlighted nepotism under Yunus’ regime. Key positions were given to close associates, including his nephew Apoorv Jahangir as Deputy Press Secretary and longtime aide Lamia Morshed in senior roles. “All major appointments were quietly allocated to loyalists,” Polash stated.

A False Global Narrative

Polash concluded that the West has been unaware of Yunus’ alleged misdeeds because the global narrative focused on a benevolent professor aiding rural women. “The evidence is all there; one day the world will see the truth,” he warned.
