US Sends Naval Fleet Toward Iran Amid Rising Tensions

The United States is deploying a significant naval fleet toward the Persian Gulf, intensifying concerns over potential military action against Iran. The fleet reportedly includes an aircraft carrier, multiple destroyers, and warships, according to US officials.

President Donald Trump confirmed the movement of the naval forces, stating, “You know, a lot of our ships are heading in that direction. A large force is going toward Iran. I don’t want anything to happen, but we are watching them very closely.” He added that while the fleet is massive, its deployment does not necessarily mean the US will engage militarily.

USS Abraham Lincoln Leads the Strike Group

US officials said the aircraft carrier strike group, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln, departed from the Asia-Pacific region last week. Alongside the carrier, several American warships and destroyers are en route to the Middle East. The move comes after recent reports of crackdowns on protesters in Iran.

Tensions Between Washington and Tehran

The naval deployment follows heightened tensions between the US and Iran after Tehran’s crackdown on demonstrations. Earlier threats from Trump reportedly prevented the execution of 837 protesters. Despite a recent reduction in protests, US authorities are reviewing additional air defense systems for the region.

Iran released updated figures on Wednesday, reporting that 3,117 people were killed during the demonstrations. Human rights organizations suggest the actual number could be significantly higher. Internet restrictions in Iran, imposed since January 8, continue to limit the flow of information from the country.

Trump Signals Readiness for Dialogue

While confirming military readiness, Trump also expressed willingness to engage in talks with Tehran. “We are keeping a close watch and ready to act if necessary,” he said, reiterating a dual approach of caution and preparedness in the volatile region.
