US Plans Massive Strike on Iran: Nuclear Sites, Missile Centres and Top Leadership on Target, Trump Briefed on Full-Scale Assault Options

Tehran/Washington: The United States is reportedly preparing for a large-scale military strike on Iran, potentially by the end of this week, targeting not only Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile infrastructure but also key political and military leadership in what could amount to an attempt at regime change.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, citing senior White House officials, US President Donald Trump has been fully briefed on multiple military strike options. The report suggests that each plan has been designed to inflict maximum damage on Iran’s strategic capabilities and government structure.

Officials familiar with the discussions said the proposed operation could involve coordinated attacks on Iran’s military bases, nuclear facilities, government targets, and missile production sites, along with plans that may include eliminating Iran’s top political and defence leadership.

Regime Change and Strategic Targets Part of Attack Design

US officials reportedly confirmed that the strike plans include the possibility of assassinating senior Iranian officials and military commanders, aimed at weakening the leadership structure and creating conditions for a potential shift in power inside Iran.

The proposed assault is expected to be carried out through a combination of air, land and naval assets, making it one of the most aggressive military strategies considered in recent decades.

Trump Yet to Take Final Call

Despite the advanced level of military readiness, the final decision rests with President Trump, who has not yet authorised an attack. However, discussions among US national security officials have reportedly intensified.

CNN cited sources stating that Trump has privately debated the pros and cons of launching the operation and has sought advice from his closest aides and allies on the best course of action.

A person familiar with the matter said that White House national security officials met on Wednesday in the Situation Room to review Iran-related developments.

Trump was also briefed by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner regarding indirect talks held with Iranian representatives a day earlier.

Diplomatic Talks Fail to Deliver Breakthrough

The report comes after indirect discussions between US and Iranian officials in Geneva this week, which lasted over three-and-a-half hours but failed to yield a clear breakthrough.

Iran’s chief negotiator stated that both sides agreed on a set of “guiding principles,” though a US official said several key issues remain unresolved.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Washington expects further clarity from Iran in the coming weeks regarding the status of negotiations, but did not confirm whether Trump may order strikes before that.

Potential Global Fallout: Oil Prices Could Cross $100

Experts warn that a US attack on Iran could have serious economic consequences, particularly for global energy markets. Oil prices could surge sharply, possibly crossing $100 per barrel overnight.

There are also fears that Iran may respond by attempting to block the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route through which nearly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes. Such an escalation could trigger a global energy crisis.

India Could Face Major Economic Impact

A major conflict in the Gulf region could pose serious challenges for India, which imports more than 80 percent of its crude oil requirements. A sharp rise in global oil prices would directly increase fuel costs in India, leading to higher transportation and logistics expenses, eventually impacting the common man.

Additionally, India’s trade routes to Central Asia through Iran could also be disrupted in case of prolonged conflict.

With military preparations intensifying and diplomacy failing to produce quick results, the Middle East now appears to be standing on the edge of a potentially catastrophic conflict that could reshape regional and global stability.
