Washington, D.C.: U.S. Congressman Bill Huizenga has confirmed that the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir was carried out by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of Pakistan-based militant organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Huizenga stated that the TRF, operating from Pakistan, was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the Trump administration in July, a decision influenced by the Pahalgam attack.
Details of the Pahalgam Attack
The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, claimed the lives of 26 individuals. Indian authorities had long maintained that the attackers originated from Pakistan and had coordinated cross-border operations to target civilians. The incident prompted India to launch Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist camps inside Pakistan. The operation included aerial strikes and lasted four days until May 10, during which Indian forces reportedly destroyed multiple militant facilities.
Pakistan Denies Involvement
Throughout the incident and the subsequent Indian response, Pakistan denied any involvement in the attack. Despite repeated claims, international observers and now U.S. officials, including Congressman Huizenga, have corroborated India’s stance that the attackers were linked to Pakistan-based terrorist groups.
Global Recognition of India’s Position
India’s claims regarding cross-border terrorism have gained wider acknowledgment on the international stage. Huizenga, a senior leader of the U.S. Republican Party, described the Pahalgam attack as “horrific” and explicitly attributed it to TRF, emphasizing the group’s operational ties to Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan.
This confirmation adds further weight to India’s consistent narrative about terrorist threats emanating from across its borders and underscores the growing international recognition of the challenges posed by Pakistan-based militant networks.
