Washington: The United States has once again announced fresh sanctions on Iran, just after nuclear talks in Oman. The latest measures specifically target Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical businesses. Notably, an Indian company has also come under the ambit of these sanctions.
According to the US State Department, the sanctions target 15 companies and 14 vessels linked to Iran’s so-called “shadow fleet.” These entities have allegedly been involved in transporting petroleum, petroleum products, and petrochemicals in violation of international restrictions.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the move is part of the Trump administration’s new pressure campaign against Tehran. He emphasized that President Donald Trump remains committed to curbing the Iranian government’s illegal oil and petrochemical exports.
“The new sanctions aim to cut off revenue sources that Tehran uses for domestic repression and destabilizing activities abroad,” Pigott said, accusing the Iranian regime of prioritizing oppression and regional instability over the welfare of its people.
Indian Company Included in Sanctions
Among the entities listed under the sanctions is an Indian commercial shipping management firm, Elevate Marine Management Private Limited (ELEVATE). The company is accused of managing a Cameroon-flagged crude oil tanker, BENEDICT, which allegedly transported Iranian petroleum products at least three times between September and November 2025, in violation of international sanctions.
The US has reiterated its commitment to continue targeting companies and countries engaged in buying or trading Iranian oil, signaling ongoing economic pressure despite simultaneous diplomatic engagement.
