The United States is reportedly considering direct military action against Iran, including potential strikes targeting high-value leadership, including the country’s Supreme Leader. According to military sources, aircraft stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln could launch precision attacks on Tehran and other critical sites.
US Forces Deploy to the Middle East
Satellite imagery shows the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, along with a full task force including warships, supply vessels, and submarines, moving through the Strait of Malacca toward the Persian Gulf via Hambantota Port in Sri Lanka. The carrier’s F/A-18 Hornet jets are capable of striking leadership targets, Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) facilities, and command-and-control centers with precision munitions.
US Admiral James Stavridis has noted that attacks could combine kinetic strikes with electronic warfare to neutralize Iranian air defenses. The objective would be to disrupt Iran’s military, logistics, and law enforcement infrastructure, including the morality police that enforce restrictions on women, as well as critical energy infrastructure such as refineries, ports, and maritime facilities.
Simultaneous Multi-Front Operations
In addition to the aircraft carrier, US forces have access to multiple regional airbases. At least one squadron of F-15 Strike Eagles has reportedly already reached Jordan, supported by aerial refueling and cargo aircraft stationed at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Operations could also be launched from Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, although some Gulf countries may hesitate to provide launch access.
The US may also receive operational support from Israel, which maintains the region’s most secure and capable airfields. Both countries could coordinate as an integrated force for targeted strikes, including missions aimed at Iran’s Supreme Leader. Potential targets include military production facilities, missile and drone manufacturing sites, IRGC and police facilities, energy infrastructure, civilian supply chains, and telecommunications networks.
If executed, these operations would represent a major escalation in US-Iran tensions, highlighting the strategic emphasis Washington places on reshaping Iran’s power structure.
