Ukraine Develops Tomahawk-Like Missile, Strikes Russian Su-57 Jet Factory, Deals Blow to Putin

Ukraine has reportedly developed its own long-range, low-altitude subsonic cruise missile, similar in capability to the American Tomahawk, after failing to acquire such weapons from the United States. Named the Flamingo FP-5, the missile has been claimed to target key Russian military infrastructure, including facilities producing the Su-57 fighter jet.

According to reports, the missile’s first operational use was in August last year, when Ukraine launched three Flamingo missiles at a Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) post in Armyansk, Crimea. In September, Ukraine reportedly targeted Russia’s Skif-M facility in Belgorod — a production site for Su-34, Su-35, and Su-57 jets — using four Flamingo missiles. Ukrainian sources now claim that all four missiles hit their targets, causing significant damage.

Satellite Analysis Supports Ukrainian Claims

Analysis of satellite imagery, as reported by Ukrainian media, indicates that all four missiles struck within an 80-meter radius of the designated targets. This contradicts Russia’s initial claims that only one missile successfully hit the facility. The attack reportedly disrupted production lines, and repairs to the facility’s roof were still incomplete as of early January 2026, according to low-resolution Copernicus satellite images.

If verified, these developments demonstrate the Flamingo FP-5’s long-range strike capabilities and its ability to penetrate Russian air defense systems. Ukrainian media outlets CyberBoroschno and Xilenova emphasized the precision of the attacks, highlighting the strategic impact on Russia’s fighter jet production.

Impact on Russia

The strikes on the Skif-M facility mark a significant setback for Russia’s military aviation production and are seen as a direct challenge to President Vladimir Putin. While Russia has not officially responded to these new claims, the satellite evidence suggests that the facility suffered more extensive damage than previously acknowledged.

Ukraine’s development and deployment of the Flamingo FP-5 missile could shift the dynamics of the ongoing conflict, providing Kyiv with enhanced operational capabilities against high-value Russian military targets.
