Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled his much-anticipated “Trump Gold Card” program on Wednesday, promising a direct route to American citizenship for eligible applicants. Announcing the initiative at the White House Roosevelt Room in front of business leaders, Trump declared on social media, “The Trump Gold Card from the U.S. government is live today! A direct path to citizenship for all qualified and verified individuals!”
Gold Card vs. Green Card
Trump emphasized that the Gold Card offers benefits surpassing the traditional Green Card. “This is somewhat like a Green Card but with bigger advantages,” he said. Companies can purchase Gold Cards for highly talented individuals and retain them in the U.S., ensuring that exceptional talent remains in the country. Trump highlighted that major corporations, including Apple, stand to benefit significantly.
Program Details and Eligibility
The Trump Gold Card is designed for individuals capable of delivering maximum economic benefit to the U.S. Applicants must pay a $15,000 DHS processing fee, undergo thorough background checks, and invest $1 million to qualify. Each card is issued for one individual only, and applicants must be eligible for legal permanent residency.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick explained, “The program ensures that every applicant is fully qualified to reside in the U.S. through a rigorous vetting process. Companies can acquire multiple cards, but each card corresponds to a single person.”

Trump described the program as a solution to retaining global talent: “Some of the brightest people often cannot stay in the U.S. after graduating from top colleges. This card changes that. It’s a gift for America, potentially bringing billions into the U.S. Treasury.”
