Amid mounting U.S. pressure, Iran has agreed to resume nuclear negotiations. Representatives from both countries are scheduled to meet on Friday in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a direct warning to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
During an interview with NBC News, Trump was asked whether Khamenei should be concerned. The President replied firmly, “I would say they should be very concerned. Yes, they should be.” He further warned that if Tehran attempts to restart its nuclear program, it could face new attacks. Trump’s warning comes just days before Washington and Tehran are set to meet in Muscat to restart nuclear talks.
U.S. Pushes for Missile Program Discussion
Earlier reports suggested that the upcoming nuclear talks might be canceled. The U.S. reportedly wanted to include Iran’s missile program in the discussions, while Tehran insisted that the talks focus solely on its nuclear program. The situation eased after both sides confirmed that the meeting would take place in Muscat rather than the previously planned location in Turkey. Sources indicate that Iran specifically requested Muscat as the venue for the talks.
Last-Minute Agreement on Nuclear Talks
Initially, U.S. officials rejected Iran’s stance and even threatened to cancel the meeting entirely. According to Axios, at least nine regional countries contacted the White House, urging them to continue the talks in order to hear Iran’s position. Following this intervention, the U.S. decision was reversed.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed on social media that the meeting is scheduled for Friday at approximately 10:00 AM in Muscat. He also thanked Oman for making all necessary arrangements for the session.
