Trump Announces ‘Trump-Class’ Battleships, Claims 100 Times More Powerful Than Any Existing Warship

Washington, D.C.: The United States is taking a major step to strengthen its naval supremacy with the announcement of a new class of battleships. Former President Donald Trump, speaking at an event in Florida, revealed plans for two state-of-the-art “Trump-Class” warships, claiming they will be the fastest, largest, and 100 times more powerful than any battleship ever built.

Part of the U.S. Navy’s new modernization initiative, dubbed the Golden Fleet, these battleships are designed to replace older naval vessels and reinforce America’s maritime dominance. “These ships will strike fear into the hearts of our adversaries worldwide,” Trump said, alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Navy Secretary John Fellen.

Battleship Features

The initial phase of the program will see two ships built, with plans to expand the fleet to 8 and eventually 20–25 vessels. The first ship will be named USS Defiant. Trump claimed the vessels would weigh over 30,000 tons, making them significantly larger than current battleships.

According to Secretary Fellen, the ships will feature advanced technology, including artificial intelligence and directed-energy lasers. In addition to conventional weaponry, they will be equipped with nuclear weapons and sea-launched cruise missiles. The ships are expected to be AI-controlled, marking a major leap in naval warfare capabilities.

Trump highlighted that the U.S. has not built a new battleship since 1994 and emphasized that this program would create an entirely new class of naval vessels. Existing aircraft carriers will also be upgraded under the Golden Fleet initiative.

Strategic Significance

The announcement comes amid heightened U.S. naval activity in the Caribbean Sea, including increased pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and efforts to intercept oil exports. Analysts also see the new battleship program as a response to China’s growing maritime power, which has been viewed as a major strategic challenge for the United States in recent years.
