Trump Announces Gaza Board of Peace; Indian-American Ajay Banga Plays Key Role

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has officially announced the formation of a Board of Peace for Gaza, marking a key step in his plan to stabilize the region and end ongoing conflicts. The board includes prominent international figures, with Indian-American Ajay Banga appointed as a founding executive member. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio are also among the distinguished members.

High-Profile Board Membership

According to the White House, the founding executive members of the board include:

  • Tony Blair – Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
  • Marco Rubio – U.S. Secretary of State
  • Jared Kushner – Trump’s son-in-law and Middle East Special Envoy
  • Steve Witkoff – U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East
  • Mark Rowan – CEO, Apollo Global Management
  • Ajay Banga – President, World Bank
  • Robert Gabriel – U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor

Each member has been assigned a portfolio designed to promote stability and long-term success in Gaza. President Trump, who will serve as the board’s chairman, described the group as “the greatest and most prestigious board ever assembled.”

Technocratic Committee for Daily Governance

Prior to announcing the Board of Peace, a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee was formed to manage Gaza’s day-to-day administration post-conflict. Ali Shath, a former deputy minister in the Palestinian Authority, has been appointed head of the newly established National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). The board will also include Nikolay Mladenov, former UN envoy to the Middle East, representing international interests and coordinating with the NCAG.

International Stabilization Force

Trump’s plan also includes the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. This force will train and support Palestinian police units to maintain security, establish peace, and create a lasting environment free from terrorism. U.S. Major General Jasper Jeffers has been appointed to lead the force.

The formation of the Board of Peace, the technocratic committee, and the ISF represent a multi-pronged approach aimed at stabilizing Gaza, promoting governance, and fostering long-term peace in the region.
