Islamabad / Kabul, 27 Nov 2025: In a significant retaliation, Taliban forces have launched drone strikes on ISIS hideouts inside Pakistan, marking a sharp escalation in cross-border tensions. The attacks reportedly targeted key ISIS commanders, including Abdul Hakim Toheedi, Gul Nazim, and Sadiq Yar, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist operations inside Afghanistan.
According to Afghan Taliban media, the drones originated from Afghanistan and successfully returned after striking ISIS positions in Khyber District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Local witnesses reported multiple drones hovering over the area late Wednesday evening. Despite heavy gunfire from Pakistani security forces, the drones were able to carry out their mission unhindered.
These ISIS operatives were reportedly close associates of the local ISIS leader Abdul Malik, who was killed on 8 August. Taliban sources claimed that Abdul Hakim was primarily active in Afghanistan’s Herat province but had taken refuge in the mountainous regions of Khyber.
This counterstrike comes in response to a recent Pakistani air attack inside Afghanistan, which killed 10 people, including nine children, escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries.
The Taliban government has reiterated that it will not bow to Pakistani pressure and is committed to strengthening ties with India. Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to push the Taliban to act against TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) militants hiding within Afghan territory. TTP chief Noor Wali recently released a video from the Pakistani hills, emphasizing his presence within the country.
Diplomatic discussions between Pakistan and the Taliban are currently underway in Turkey, as both sides attempt to navigate the escalating security crisis.
