Stung by Operation Sindoor Defeat, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Boasts, Claims India Will Never Forget Lesson

Islamabad/Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remains under pressure at home following a decisive setback in Operation Sindoor against India. On Wednesday, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sharif publicly lauded the Pakistani military, claiming that the Modi government has been taught a lesson it will never forget, from Delhi to Mumbai.

The statement comes amid mounting criticism within Pakistan, with supporters of former PM Imran Khan openly blaming Sharif and Pakistan’s de facto ruler, Field Marshal Asim Munir, for the operation’s failure. The Pakistani government faces internal pressure as public outrage grows over the military setbacks.

Operation Sindoor and Military Claims

During his speech, Sharif asserted, “During the India-Pakistan conflict, Pakistan delivered a lesson to the Modi government that it will never forget. From Delhi to Mumbai, India will always remember this defeat.” The claim follows India’s retaliatory strikes in Kashmir’s Pahalgam region, where BrahMos missiles targeted multiple Pakistani airbases, leaving significant destruction confirmed by satellite imagery.

Domestic Context and Political Tensions

Sharif addressed the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, praising their bravery in facing decades of terrorism, amid ongoing attacks by TTP militants targeting Pakistani forces. The region is governed by Imran Khan’s PTI party, which Sharif and Munir have allegedly sought to destabilize.

In his speech, Sharif also indirectly criticized Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, alluding to past allegations of her using supernatural practices while Khan was in power. Sharif claimed that Pakistan’s current government has protected the nation through hard work, not magic.

Economic and Social Challenges

Despite Sharif’s claims of safeguarding the nation, Pakistan is facing severe economic challenges, with rising unemployment and inflation. The government is actively seeking financial support from China, Saudi Arabia, and the IMF to stabilize the economy.
