Speculation Over Imran Khan’s Health Intensifies: PTI Sources Claim Former PM Assaulted in Adiala Jail

Islamabad: Concerns over former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s health are growing amid mounting rumors of mistreatment in custody. According to PTI sources, Khan has been allegedly assaulted in Adiala Jail and is being kept in isolation, denied access to family members and legal teams for several weeks.

Reports indicate that Khan has been subjected to prolonged detention inside the jail, with his sisters repeatedly blocked from visiting him. Alima Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, questioned the authorities about this restriction and warned that the Pakistani public may soon protest against the ill-treatment of their former PM. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohel Afridi staged a sit-in outside the jail to demand Khan’s access to his family.

Alima Khan told CNN-News18 that while she does not believe the administration intends to harm her brother, the continuous pressure, harsh treatment, and isolation are taking a toll on his physical health. Inside sources from Adiala Jail also confirmed that Khan’s health has been deteriorating due to these conditions.

Authorities had previously allowed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM to meet Khan, but these interactions reportedly painted a misleading picture of his well-being. Officials are reportedly concerned that if Khan’s sisters publicly highlight his condition, widespread protests could erupt across the country. Khan’s family has now approached the High Court to demand immediate visitation rights.

Jail officials in Rawalpindi have denied rumors of Khan’s death or transfer, asserting that he is in good health and receiving proper medical attention. Pakistani newspaper The News International also described such rumors as baseless, confirming that Khan remains in Adiala Jail under regular medical supervision.

Imran Khan has been in custody since August 2023, following his ouster via a no-confidence motion in 2022. He currently faces charges including corruption and allegations related to terrorism. PTI members have appealed to the government to facilitate immediate family access to safeguard Khan’s constitutional, human rights, and personal security.

The situation continues to stir public concern as political tensions rise, with the nation closely monitoring developments regarding the former prime minister’s health and treatment in custody.
