Sikh Woman Married in Pakistan, Sarbjeet Kaur, Arrested Along with Husband; Expected to Be Deported to India Today

Islamabad/Delhi, January 5, 2026: Sarbjeet Kaur, a Sikh woman who traveled to Pakistan with a pilgrimage group and reportedly married a Muslim man, has been arrested along with her husband, Nasir Hussain, and is expected to be deported back to India today.

Sarbjeet Kaur, who went missing from her group at Nankana Sahib, had reportedly converted to Islam prior to her marriage, adopting the new name Noor Hussain. A video of the wedding circulated on social media, confirming the religious conversion and nuptials.

According to sources, the Pakistan police acted on intelligence inputs regarding the couple’s presence in Gawah Pehare Wali village, Nankana Sahib. The operation was coordinated by the Intelligence Bureau Division (IBD), with authorities swiftly apprehending Sarbjeet Kaur and Nasir Hussain.

Reports indicate that the couple had initially connected online via TikTok in 2016 and had previously applied for visas multiple times, which were denied due to legal and procedural reasons. On November 4, 2025, Nasir Hussain is said to have visited the Gurudwara Janm Sthan, Nankana Sahib, from where he allegedly took Sarbjeet Kaur through Pharukabad and Burj Attari areas.

The legal proceedings and deportation process have now been formally initiated under Pakistani law. Pakistani Sikh community leaders, including PSGPC President and Punjab Minister Ramesh Singh Arora, confirmed that the arrest was based on intelligence inputs and emphasized that the deportation is expected to be completed today.

This case has attracted significant attention due to its cross-border, religious conversion, and security implications, highlighting the sensitive nature of such incidents between India and Pakistan.
