London: Former Pakistani Army Major Adil Raja, now based in the UK, has made startling claims about an emerging power struggle in West Asia. According to Raja, Saudi Arabia is forging a formidable coalition across the region to counter the influence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is receiving support from Israel. Meanwhile, countries like Pakistan and Egypt are caught in a diplomatic bind, unable to openly align with either side.
In a video statement released on Monday, Raja cited intelligence reports indicating that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been orchestrating a strategic campaign against the UAE behind the scenes, which is now becoming increasingly visible. Saudi Arabia recently announced plans to provide direct aid to Gaza, a role previously dominated by the UAE, signaling escalating tensions between the two Gulf powers.
Pakistan and Egypt Caught in the Crossfire
The unfolding situation has put Pakistan and Egypt in a difficult position. Riyadh is reportedly pressuring both countries to clarify their stance. Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir and Egypt’s leader Fathi Al-Sisi are facing direct diplomatic pressure from Saudi Arabia to align with its coalition. According to Raja, Saudi Arabia perceives that Pakistan and Egypt might be the only other regional powers leaning toward the UAE-Israel axis.
Munir Under the Spotlight
Raja claims that Saudi Arabia’s maneuvers have unsettled Asim Munir, Pakistan’s top military officer. Attempts by Munir to secure a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have reportedly been delayed, and a significant deal between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has been cancelled amid the rising tensions.
Saudi Arabia has also launched an active campaign highlighting the UAE-Israel military collaboration during the Gaza conflict, underscoring billions of dollars in arms support provided by the UAE to Israel. The move aims to consolidate Saudi influence and challenge the growing UAE-Israel partnership in the Arab world.
As the geopolitical dynamics unfold, Pakistan’s leadership faces mounting pressure to navigate a complex web of alliances, with Saudi Arabia’s assertive stance redefining power equations in West Asia.
