Pakistan’s Asim Munir Claims Advantage Over India Amid Libya Arms Deal, Promotes JF-17 Jets

Islamabad/Benghazi: Pakistan Army Chief and CDF Asim Munir has publicly claimed that Pakistan gained a strategic advantage over India during the four-day military confrontation in May. Speaking before Libyan military officials amid ongoing arms deal discussions, Munir asserted that Pakistani military technology outperformed Indian defense systems, including modern fighter jets and air defense platforms.

In a recent meeting with the Libyan delegation, Munir claimed, “During the conflict with India in May, 90 percent of the military technology used was Pakistani. This allowed our Air Force to gain an edge and challenge India’s Rafale, Su-30, MiG-29, and Mirage-2000 fighter jets. We were even able to counter the S-400 air defense system supplied to India by Russia.”

Promoting JF-17 Fighter Jets

Munir traveled to Libya recently to promote the sale of JF-17 fighter jets. In meetings with officials from eastern Libya, he presented the aircraft as domestically produced, while in reality, the JF-17 is a joint project between Pakistan and China. Currently, over 150 units of the 4.5 generation JF-17 are in service with the Pakistan Air Force.

Munir also invoked the “unity of the Muslim world” to promote the arms deal. Addressing Libyan officials, he stated, “In the last 20 years, 7–8 prominent Muslim countries have been devastated. It is essential for Muslim nations to remain united and purchase arms from Pakistan.”

Divine Support in Conflict

Earlier, at a public event in Islamabad, Munir claimed that during the May confrontation with India, “Allah supported our forces. We felt the presence of a higher power guiding us.” He reiterated these claims during discussions in Benghazi while negotiating the arms deal with Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Saddam Haftar.

The meeting marked a key step in Pakistan’s efforts to promote its defense exports, including JF-17 fighter jets, amid growing international attention on regional military developments.
