Islamabad: Pakistan’s army spokesperson, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stirred controversy with his remarks during a press conference on Tuesday, where he accused India and Afghanistan of conspiring against Pakistan. Chaudhry alleged that India was supporting and funding anti-Pakistan extremists in Afghanistan and claimed that both Kabul and New Delhi were working together to spread terrorism in Pakistan. His comments, however, have now become the subject of widespread ridicule.
Accusations Against India and Afghanistan
Chaudhry’s statements suggested a deep-seated resentment towards the growing relationship between India and Afghanistan. The spokesperson claimed that India was actively funding and supporting extremist groups hostile to Pakistan within Afghanistan. He further asserted that both the Indian and Taliban governments were united in their efforts to target Pakistan.
“India and Afghanistan are working together against Pakistan. If you want to face us, come at any time. We are ready to fight together,” Chaudhry added. However, his comments soon turned bizarre and led to widespread mockery.
Ridiculed for ‘Strange’ Remarks
During the briefing, Chaudhry also made an odd statement, saying, “India says the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and they claim, ‘We’ll come from this side, and that side.’ We say, ‘Come however you want— from the right, left, above, or below. Come alone or with someone. If we don’t give you a tough time, money back!’” His statement quickly became a meme on social media platforms, with many users mocking him for sounding more like a Bollywood movie character than a military spokesperson.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented, “This guy from Pakistan’s army sounds like a third-rate Bollywood actor.” Another sarcastically remarked, “Is this really a spokesperson of the army, or is he a vegetable vendor on a cart?” A third user added, “Wars never won, elections never lost – Pakistan Army… even in 1971, Niazi made such comments just before surrendering three days later.”
Raising Allegations Against Indian Media
The controversy didn’t end there. Chaudhry also aired videos from some Indian journalists and YouTubers during the press conference, claiming they were connected to India’s intelligence agency, RAW. He attempted to present this as proof of the nexus between India and the Taliban, further fueling the narrative of a conspiracy against Pakistan.
