In a decisive military move, India forced Pakistan into a defensive stance during Operation Sindoor by striking the Kirana Hills. India fired two missiles at the strategic location, a blow that reportedly compelled Pakistan to seek a ceasefire. This revelation comes from renowned aerial warfare analyst and historian Tom Cooper, who has extensively studied the operation.
Targeting Pakistan’s Strategic Facility
According to Cooper, the Indian Air Force targeted Kirana Hills, which reportedly houses a secret underground nuclear facility where Pakistan stores several nuclear weapons.
“There is ample evidence that India struck Kirana Hills during Operation Sindoor,” Cooper told NDTV. “Pakistanis themselves have released at least two videos on social media showing missile trails and impacts at the site. One clip even shows missiles striking the hills from above, confirming the target.”
Pakistani Radar Stations Destroyed
Cooper further explained that India initially targeted Pakistani radar stations to neutralize defensive capabilities before launching attacks on at least two underground storage facility entrances, including the Kirana Hills, which is considered a centerpiece of Pakistan’s nuclear program. A subsequent video reportedly shows smoke rising from a radar station, believed to belong to the Pakistan Air Force’s 4091 Squadron, one of the country’s key radar installations.
A Message Through Precision Strike
Tom Cooper noted that Pakistan conducted a non-critical nuclear test at Kirana Hills in 2024. “This is not an amusement park. Strikes of this nature are carried out to send a clear message without causing unnecessary casualties,” he said. The attack was intended to convey that India has the capability to target critical assets at will with overwhelming firepower.
Ceasefire Requests Followed
Following the strikes, diplomatic communications revealed that Islamabad reached out to Washington and New Delhi seeking a ceasefire. Cooper emphasized that while the ceasefire request was serious, it was also part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic strategy to de-escalate tensions.
The operation demonstrates India’s ability to conduct precision strikes on strategic targets while sending a strong deterrent message, reshaping the regional security dynamics.
