Islamabad: A new video linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has emerged, raising fresh security concerns for India. The footage reportedly shows members of LeT and its political wing, Pakistan Markaz Muslim League, discussing preparations to train fighters for operations in maritime environments.
The video emphasizes long-distance boat handling and aquatic combat skills. This has triggered alarm in India, as the 2008 Mumbai attacks, executed by Ajmal Kasab and others, involved infiltration via boats. Security analysts warn that such training could signal preparations for similar maritime strikes.
Details of the Training
The video, released by OSINT TV on social media, reportedly features LeT commander Harish Dar addressing his cadres. Dar stresses training in scuba diving, swimming, boat handling, and rescue drills. At one point, a LeT commander claims they are establishing a specialized water force and boasts about training 135 personnel in boat navigation.
Growing Aggression from Pakistan-Based Groups
In recent weeks, Pakistan-origin videos with inflammatory messages against India have increased. Last week, LeT commander Amir Zia, operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), issued statements about launching attacks in India and pursuing jihad in Kashmir, declaring intentions to “liberate Kashmir” and wage “Ghazwa-e-Hind.”
Background: Operations in Pakistan and PoK
The renewed activity from groups like LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed comes in the wake of India’s Operation Sindoor last May, which targeted terrorist camps in Punjab and PoK. Several buildings and training centers belonging to these groups were destroyed. Experts suggest that recent statements and videos may also serve to maintain visibility and project strength, signaling that the groups remain active despite counter-terror operations.
