
Jerusalem: Ahead of Indian Prime Minister ****’s upcoming visit, Israeli Prime Minister **** has heaped praise on India, describing the Israel-India partnership as a “powerful alliance.” Speaking at a conference organized by a major American Jewish organization in Jerusalem, Netanyahu highlighted India’s 1.5 billion-strong population and noted Israel’s widespread popularity there.
“You all know who is coming next week — Narendra Modi,” Netanyahu said. “Israel and India share a powerful alliance, and we will discuss cooperation in every possible area.” He further added, “India is not a small country. It has 1.5 billion people. Israel is extremely popular there — very popular indeed. Did you know that?”
Modi’s Israel Visit
Prime Minister Modi is set to visit Israel later this month, marking his first trip to the country in nine years. The visit is expected to strengthen strategic, defense, and technological ties between the two nations. While the official dates have yet to be announced, indications suggest that Modi may travel to Israel on February 27–28, following an AI Summit in New Delhi.
Deepening Bilateral Ties
This will be Modi’s third tenure visit to Israel. His first visit in 2017 coincided with the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, where discussions focused on defense, cyber security, agriculture, and counter-terrorism cooperation. Modi is expected to engage in extensive talks with Netanyahu during this visit. Their discussions are likely to cover not only bilateral cooperation but also the security situation in West Asia and broader regional and global developments.
Earlier this year, the two leaders had a detailed conversation in which Netanyahu briefed Modi on the progress of the Gaza Peace Plan. Modi reiterated India’s commitment to a just and sustainable peace in the region.
