Islamabad: Speculation continues to mount over the wellbeing of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been detained in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, for over a month and a half. No information about his condition has been officially shared, and his family has been denied access.
Khan’s sons, Qasim and Suleman, have voiced deep concerns, suggesting that authorities may be hiding something “irreversible” about their father’s situation. The fear comes amid circulating rumors, including on Afghan social media accounts, suggesting possible foul play during his detention.
According to Reuters, Khan’s family has had no direct or official contact with him, despite weekly court orders mandating family access. His former wife and mother of his children, Jemima Goldsmith, claimed on X that she too has been denied any phone communication with Khan.
Qasim Khan told Reuters, “We have no official information about his condition. Our greatest fear is that something is being hidden from us that cannot be fixed. Not knowing if your father is safe, injured, or even alive is a form of psychological torture.”
Earlier, Qasim had stated that his father was being held in a death cell. On November 27, he wrote on X, “My father has been under arrest for 845 days. For the past six weeks, he has been held alone in a death cell with zero transparency.” The last post from Imran Khan’s official social media account, dated November 5, mentioned Asim Munir six times, blaming him for Khan’s suffering and accusing him of undermining the rule of law in Pakistan, labeling him “history’s cruelest dictator.”
The absence of clear updates has intensified fears for Khan’s safety, leaving his family and supporters anxious as calls for transparency grow louder.
