Washington/Tehran: The U.S. has reportedly encircled Iran with a massive military presence in the Middle East, heightening fears of an imminent conflict. According to reports, the U.S. has deployed:
- 12 fighter jets in Jordan
- A guided missile destroyer in the Red Sea
- Three warships in the Persian Gulf
- Two destroyers in the Gulf of Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz
- USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea, accompanied by three separate destroyers
Additionally, a U.S. Navy destroyer, USS Delbert D. Black, recently joined the fleet, bringing the total number of destroyers in the region to six, alongside the aircraft carrier and three other littoral combat ships.
U.S. Conditions for Iran
According to geopolitical analyst Stanley Johnny, the Trump administration sent three conditions to Iran, which Tehran considers impossible to accept:
- Complete abandonment of its nuclear program, including surrendering all weapons-grade uranium to the U.S.
- Immediate cessation of support for militias in the Middle East, including Hamas, Houthi rebels, and Hezbollah.
- Halting its long-range ballistic missile program.
Iranian officials have made it clear that these demands equate to unconditional surrender, which the country will not accept.
Iran Prepares for Confrontation
Reports from the Jerusalem Post indicate that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has received a new batch of 1,000 drones, strengthening its readiness for immediate retaliation. Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Amir Hatami warned that Iran is fully prepared to counter any threats and is rapidly enhancing its strategic capabilities.
The Tasnim News Agency reported that Iran has distributed these drones across various branches of its military. Iranian Foreign Ministry sources denied claims that Tehran had reached out to the U.S. for a negotiated settlement, emphasizing that Iran will choose war over surrender if forced.
Warnings and Global Mediation Efforts
Lebanese Al-Akhbar cited Iranian sources stating that Tehran will select war over compromise if pressured. Multiple countries, including Turkey, Oman, and Qatar, are attempting to mediate between Washington and Tehran, but these efforts have so far failed.
The European Union’s recent designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization has further escalated tensions. Iran has publicly threatened that U.S. aircraft carriers are within the range of its ballistic missiles, signaling a direct threat to American naval assets.
Outlook
With both sides reinforcing positions and refusing concessions, the prospect of war between the U.S. and Iran appears increasingly likely, and diplomatic solutions are rapidly narrowing.
