Ceasefire in Gaza Shattered: Israel Launches Operation After Terrorist Attack, Several Killed

Tel Aviv: The fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has collapsed following a terrorist attack on Israeli forces in southern Gaza. In a retaliatory operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed six militants, marking a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement. Israel has stated that it will continue to respond to any attacks, remaining on high alert amid rising tensions in Iran.

According to the IDF, six armed militants were spotted near Israeli positions in southern Gaza’s western Rafah area. Tanks were deployed, and heavy gunfire ensued. The militants opened fire on an Israeli tank, triggering an exchange that included targeted airstrikes.

IDF Response and Casualties

During the clash, all six identified gunmen were killed. A statement from the IDF confirmed that soldiers of the 7th Armored Brigade neutralized the suspects and recovered a cache of weapons. The incident occurred in the Israeli-controlled Yellow Line sector of southern Gaza.

Violation of Ceasefire

The IDF emphasized that the attack constitutes a serious breach of the October ceasefire agreement. Israel reaffirmed its commitment to take action against any attempts by terrorist groups in Gaza to target its forces or civilians.

Heightened Alert Amid Iran Tensions

In a separate statement, the IDF said it remains on alert for “sudden contingencies” amid unrest in Iran. The U.S. has threatened intervention in the ongoing protests following civilian casualties, while Tehran has warned of retaliatory action against Israeli and U.S. military bases in the event of an attack.
