Baloch Leader Urges Trump to Take Immediate Action Against Pakistan, Citing Venezuela-Like Scenario

Islamabad/Washington, January 5, 2026: Dr. Tara Chand, a prominent Baloch leader living in the United States, has appealed to former U.S. President Donald Trump to support the Baloch people in their struggle for freedom. Drawing parallels with Trump’s actions in Venezuela, Tara Chand urged that Pakistan’s military chief, Asim Munir, be treated like Nicolás Maduro, citing alleged authoritarianism and exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources.

Tara Chand’s Appeal to the U.S.
A former member of the Balochistan Assembly and ex-minister in the provincial government, Dr. Tara Chand fled Pakistan in 2000 and has since consistently criticized the Pakistani government and military policies in Balochistan. In a post addressed directly to Trump, he praised the former U.S. president’s intervention in Venezuela, saying it freed the people from dictatorship, and urged similar measures for Balochistan.

Munir Compared to Maduro
Tara Chand highlighted that both Nicolás Maduro and Asim Munir exploit their regions’ natural resources for personal gain. While Maduro allegedly allowed China to plunder Venezuela’s resources, Munir is accused of selling Balochistan’s rich natural and maritime assets to China and other international entities. Tara Chand also described Munir as a “double agent,” misleading the U.S. while exploiting Balochistan’s wealth. He demanded that Trump take strict action against Munir akin to the measures taken against Maduro.

Accusations Against the Pakistani Military
Tara Chand further alleged that Pakistan’s military is a major threat to regional stability, promoting extremism and violence. He claimed that under Munir’s leadership, the army regularly perpetrates human rights abuses in Balochistan. The Baloch leader demanded that Munir be held accountable for crimes against humanity and that the people of Balochistan be granted justice, freedom, and control over their land and resources.

The Balochistan Issue
Pakistan’s Balochistan province has long faced political unrest and instability. A significant segment of the population is dissatisfied with the federal government and military, with many advocating for independence. Armed groups have also been engaged in decades-long resistance against Pakistani control, citing exploitation of resources and oppression of local communities.

Dr. Tara Chand’s appeal underscores the urgent international attention he believes is needed to address the humanitarian and political crisis in Balochistan.
