YouTube Rolls Out Auto Dubbing Feature for 27 Languages, Watch Any Video in Your Preferred Language

YouTube has officially announced that its auto dubbing feature is now available to all users, allowing videos in foreign languages to be watched in viewers’ preferred language. In India, for example, users can now watch videos—from Korean to English—in 27 different languages, including Hindi.

Expressive Dubbing for Natural Feel
Unlike traditional dubbing, YouTube’s new Expressive Speech technology focuses not only on words but also on emotions. Available in eight languages including Hindi, this feature ensures that the dubbed voice retains the original creator’s energy, pitch, and expression. So if a creator speaks enthusiastically, the dubbed version conveys the same excitement and emotion, making it feel much more natural.

Smart Filters and Audience Control
YouTube’s smart filters automatically detect content that should not be dubbed, such as music videos or silent vlogs, ensuring appropriate use of the feature. The company emphasizes that auto dubbing will not negatively impact a video’s reach. On the contrary, it can help creators reach new audiences in other languages. Creators can also upload their own dubs or disable the feature for their videos if they choose.

For viewers, full control is provided—they can set their preferred language or watch the original version. For instance, a Hollywood movie can be viewed in Hindi or its original English version, depending on the viewer’s choice.

Future Enhancements
YouTube is also testing lip-sync technology, which aligns the creator’s mouth movements with the dubbed language, further enhancing the natural feel of dubbed content.

This move marks a significant step in making global content more accessible and personalized, enabling viewers to enjoy videos in their native language without losing the creator’s intended expression.
