Amid widespread speculation about a Starlink smartphone, Elon Musk has clarified that no such phone is currently under development. The comments come after Musk previously expressed interest in the idea, which had fueled rumors about a satellite-connected smartphone entering the market.
Musk’s latest statement confirms that Starlink is not actively working on any smartphone project at this time. The company continues to focus exclusively on providing satellite internet services, aiming to extend connectivity to remote and underserved regions worldwide.
No Active Smartphone Project
Earlier remarks by Musk had sparked discussions that Starlink might create a smartphone capable of connecting directly to its satellite network. However, Musk has now made it clear that there is no active project in this direction. Starlink remains dedicated to its primary mission: expanding satellite internet access.
Partnership with T-Mobile
While a Starlink smartphone is not on the cards, the company is working with T-Mobile in the U.S. to offer direct-to-device satellite communication. This allows T-Mobile users to stay connected even without a traditional mobile network, a feature especially useful during emergencies.
Starlink’s Plans for India
Starlink continues to expand its services globally and may launch satellite internet in India later this year. Currently, the network is operational in neighboring countries such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
With Musk’s clarification, it is clear that while Starlink is revolutionizing internet connectivity, a dedicated Starlink smartphone remains purely speculative for now.
