India Surpasses 40 Crore 5G Users
India’s 5G adoption continues to surge, with the number of users crossing 40 crore as of December 2025. Reliance Jio alone accounts for over 25 crore 5G subscribers. Globally, India now ranks second in total 5G users, after China, which has over 100 crore 5G users. Industry reports highlight India as the fastest-growing market for 5G networks.

Expansion in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh
Over the past year, Airtel has installed more than 2,400 new 5G towers across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This expansion aims to improve internet speed and coverage in 87 districts, benefiting approximately 3.6 crore users.

Irina Ghose Appointed India Head of Anthropic
Leading AI company Anthropic has appointed Irina Ghose as its India Head, as it prepares to launch its first office in the country. Ghose, former Managing Director at Microsoft India with 24 years of experience, highlighted India’s rapid adoption of AI across private enterprises, large industries, and government institutions. Anthropic, known for its AI chatbot Claude, is actively hiring in India, which has become the company’s second-largest market globally.

iPhone 18 Pro Leaks: Under-Screen Face ID and Smaller Dynamic Island
Reports indicate that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could feature under-screen Face ID sensors, reducing the visible hardware on the display. The Dynamic Island is also expected to be smaller, while only the front camera and infrared Face ID camera will remain visible. These details are based on leaks and have not been officially confirmed by Apple.

Iran Internet Shutdown Continues
In Iran, internet access briefly resumed on Sunday but was quickly shut down again. Government data and Netblocks reports indicate that Iran has been under an internet blackout for the past 13 days amid protests. The government is reportedly planning to implement a permanent “National Internet”, restricting global internet access to selected individuals while ordinary citizens will access only government-approved websites and apps.

Apple Dominates Chinese Market
Apple continues to lead in China’s smartphone market. The iPhone 17 series remains the top-selling flagship, followed by Xiaomi 17 series, Huawei Mate series, and Vivo X300 series. This trend highlights Apple’s dominance over Chinese Android brands in their home market.
