We often spend thousands on high-end earbuds, but what about a gadget designed to protect your ears from surrounding noise? The Sennheiser Sound Protex Plus, priced at ₹2,990, promises exactly that. After using it for over a month, here’s a detailed look at how it performs.
Noise Protection Filters
The Sound Protex Plus resembles regular earbuds but comes with replaceable filters to manage noise. Use the Low filter for mild protection or the Full filter to block most external sounds. The device is designed to reduce surrounding noise significantly, including loud TVs, traffic, or even airplane cabin noise.
Unboxing Experience
The packaging is similar to standard earbuds but includes small, medium, and large buds along with four filters marked Low, Mid, High, and Full. It also comes with a small pouch for storage and a string to give the buds a wired-earbud look for easy handling.
Performance and Experience
During testing at home and on flights, the Full filter effectively blocked most ambient noise. Conversations right next to the user were still audible, but loud background sounds were eliminated. On flights, cabin noise was noticeably reduced.
Comfort Issues
However, inserting the buds deeply into the ear as recommended proved uncomfortable. Continuous use beyond five minutes was difficult for the reviewer, though this may vary for others.
Verdict
The Sound Protex Plus is ideal for those needing noise protection for focus, study, or simply peace in loud environments. Considering its price and performance, it earns 3.5 out of 5 stars.
