Realme to Launch India’s Biggest-Battery Smartphone on Jan 29: Will the Power Bank Become Obsolete?

Chinese smartphone brand Realme is set to shake up the Indian smartphone market with the launch of its biggest-ever battery phone, the Realme P4 Power, on January 29. The highlight of the device is its massive 10,001mAh battery, a capacity rarely seen in mainstream smartphones, which could significantly reduce the need for power banks for many users.

Realme claims that the P4 Power will deliver up to 32.5 hours of video playback on a single charge. According to the company, users may even be able to step out for an entire weekend without carrying a charger, marking a potential turning point in how smartphones are designed and used.

A Major Shift in Battery Standards

Until last year, smartphones with 7,000–7,500mAh batteries were considered the new benchmark for long-lasting devices. However, Realme has now raised the bar by introducing a 10,001mAh battery, signaling a major shift in industry trends.

Industry observers believe the launch of the Realme P4 Power could push other manufacturers to explore ultra-high-capacity batteries as well, accelerating a broader transformation in the smartphone market.

Will Power Banks Become Redundant?

In India, power banks remain an essential accessory, with most consumers opting for 10,000–20,000mAh models. However, if smartphones begin to regularly feature 10,000mAh-class batteries, the reliance on external power banks could decline sharply.

With advances in software optimization and energy-efficient processors, even today’s 5,000mAh batteries can last a full day under normal usage. A 10,001mAh battery, therefore, could comfortably meet two to three days of typical usage for many users.

What Does “Titan Battery” Mean?

Realme has branded the battery in the P4 Power as a “Titan Battery.” Reports suggest this is essentially a silicon-carbon battery, a newer technology that offers higher energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries.

Interestingly, the company has emphasized the unusual figure of 10,001mAh, stating that the extra “1” is intentional—meant to signal that Realme aims to stay “one step ahead” of industry norms. By bringing such a large-capacity battery into mass production, Realme could pave the way for similar innovations in future devices.

Mid-Range Pricing, Flagship-Level Battery

One of the most notable aspects of this launch is that Realme is introducing its largest battery in the P series, which is positioned in the mid-range segment. The Realme P4 Power is expected to be priced around ₹30,000, making it one of the most affordable smartphones to offer such an enormous battery.

For users who prioritize battery life above all else, the device could emerge as a highly attractive option in the budget-to-mid-range category.

No Major Compromises on Features

Unlike many battery-focused phones that cut back on other specifications, the Realme P4 Power is not expected to compromise heavily on performance or display quality. According to early reports, the phone will feature a 144Hz refresh rate display with 1.5K resolution. The processor and camera system are also expected to be competitive within its segment.

With its unprecedented battery capacity, solid mid-range pricing, and promising overall specifications, the Realme P4 Power could redefine user expectations around smartphone endurance—and potentially mark the beginning of the end for the everyday power bank.
