PM Modi Shares 5 Key Tips to Stay Safe from Digital Fraud, Highlights Importance of Re-KYC

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has outlined five essential measures to protect citizens from digital fraud. Speaking on his popular radio program Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister emphasized vigilance while handling KYC, OTPs, Aadhaar, and other personal information. He also advised regular password updates and strict adherence to RBI guidelines for online transactions.

Rising Threat of Digital Fraud

In his address, PM Modi expressed concern over the growing instances of online scams that drain citizens’ savings. He highlighted how fraudsters impersonate officials or officers to intimidate senior citizens and business owners. Citizens were urged to remain cautious when approached by unknown callers or suspicious links.

KYC and Re-KYC Awareness

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of keeping bank accounts, pension schemes, and UPI accounts secure by maintaining up-to-date KYC details. He also explained the concept of re-KYC—updating previously completed KYC—to ensure bank information remains accurate. Citizens were advised to update their KYC only through official bank branches, authorized apps, or verified channels.

Safeguarding Personal Information

PM Modi warned against sharing OTP, Aadhaar number, or bank account details with unknown individuals. Emphasizing caution, he advised citizens to treat calls, SMS, or suspicious links with care to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

Five Key Tips from PM Modi

  1. Stay Alert – Be vigilant when receiving calls, messages, or links from unknown sources.
  2. Update KYC/Re-KYC – Ensure your bank or UPI KYC is current through authorized channels.
  3. Protect OTP and Personal Data – Never share OTPs, Aadhaar numbers, or bank account information with strangers.
  4. Change Passwords Regularly – Strengthen online security by updating passwords periodically.
  5. Follow RBI Guidelines – Adhere to security advisories and instructions issued by the Reserve Bank of India.

PM Modi’s guidance aims to raise awareness among citizens about the precautions necessary to navigate the digital world safely, making sure that the benefits of online services are not overshadowed by the risks of fraud.
