PAN-Aadhaar Link: Check Your Status in Seconds Before the December 31 Deadline

As the December 31, 2025, deadline approaches, it is mandatory for all PAN card holders to link their PAN with Aadhaar. Failure to do so will render PAN cards inactive from January 1, 2026. Here’s how you can quickly check your PAN-Aadhaar link status online or via SMS.

Why Linking PAN with Aadhaar Matters

If your PAN was issued using your Aadhaar Enrollment ID before October 1, 2024, it must be linked with Aadhaar before the deadline. Linking is completely free until December 31. After that, a penalty of ₹1,000 may apply. To avoid inconvenience, it’s advisable to check and complete the linkage as soon as possible.

Check PAN-Aadhaar Link Status Online

1. Visit the Income Tax e-Filing portal.
2. Navigate to the Quick Links section on the right-hand side.
3. Scroll down and click on “View Link Aadhaar Status”.
4. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar numbers, then click View Link Aadhaar Status.

You will see one of three messages:

• “Your PAN is already linked” – Your PAN is successfully linked with Aadhaar.
• “Linking request sent to UIDAI” – Your request is in process.
• “PAN not linked” – Your PAN is not linked and action is required.

Check Status via SMS

For those without internet access, you can check via SMS:

• Open your messaging app and type: UIDPAN (12-digit Aadhaar) (10-digit PAN).
• Send it to 567678 or 56161.
• You will receive a confirmation SMS with your PAN-Aadhaar link status.
