Islamabad, Pakistan: Banking in Pakistan is set to become significantly more convenient with the introduction of voice-activated features in mobile banking apps. United Bank Limited (UBL) is reportedly planning to launch this feature, enabling users to transfer money, pay bills, and check account statements simply by speaking commands.
Simplifying Digital Transactions
Currently, mobile banking apps allow users to transfer funds and pay bills from anywhere, eliminating the need to stand in long queues. However, these processes require following multiple steps and navigating through complex menus. The new voice-activated feature will simplify this further.
According to ProPakistani, users will soon be able to send money just by speaking. For instance, to transfer funds to a friend or family member, a Pakistani user can simply say: “Send money to [Name]”, bypassing lengthy app menus entirely.
Bill Payments and Account Management by Voice
The feature will also allow users to pay utility bills, recharge mobile balances, and view their account statements using voice commands. While this innovation promises convenience, it also raises security concerns. As noted in the report, someone with access to another person’s phone could potentially authorize transactions using voice commands.
UBL and other banking authorities are expected to implement enhanced security measures alongside the feature to prevent unauthorized access and fraud. The exact launch date for this update has not been announced yet.
This move marks a significant step toward voice-assisted banking in Pakistan, making financial transactions faster and more user-friendly while ensuring security remains a priority.
