Motorola Launches Its First Foldable Phone at CES 2026: A Rival to Samsung with 8.1-Inch Display

At the CES 2026, Motorola unveiled its first-ever foldable smartphone, the Motorola Razr Fold. This device, expected to be launched later this year, could rival Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold. Unlike other foldable phones, the Razr Fold opens like a book, offering a large external display, making it usable even when folded. Once opened, it reveals a stunning 8.1-inch 2K LTPO display, providing users with a larger, high-quality screen.

Motorola Razr Fold Features and Specifications

The Motorola Razr Fold has been designed with the average user in mind, aiming to offer both ease of use and premium looks. When folded, the device features a 6.6-inch external display, allowing users to interact with the phone like a regular smartphone. Unfolding it reveals a massive 8.1-inch 2K LTPO display for a true tablet-like experience.

Additional Features:

  • Stylus Support: The device supports the Moto Pen Ultra Stylus, which enhances productivity, allowing users to write and draw on the screen like a tablet.
  • AI Integration: Motorola is known for its seamless AI features, and the Razr Fold continues that trend. The AI integration will allow it to summarize notifications and offer more user-friendly smart features.

Camera Setup

The Motorola Razr Fold comes with a powerful camera setup:

  • Triple Rear Camera: A 50MP primary camera, complemented by two other lenses for wide-angle shots and depth effects.
  • Internal Camera: A 20MP camera located inside the device for selfies and video calls when the phone is unfolded.
  • External Selfie Camera: A 32MP camera on the outer display, perfect for high-quality selfies and quick shots.

The Razr Fold will also feature Dolby Vision video recording, stabilization, and cinematic-quality video capture.

A Step Toward AI and Foldable Innovation

Motorola is positioning itself as a strong player in the foldable category, bringing AI to its foldable smartphones in a significant way. After Samsung, Motorola is one of the few companies pushing hard on foldable and AI technology integration, ensuring that the Motorola Razr Fold stands out in a growing market.

While the official launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet, Motorola is expected to release the Razr Fold later this year, adding a much-needed competitor to Samsung’s foldable phones.
