At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio aims to make Artificial Intelligence as affordable for Indians as mobile data. Drawing a parallel with how Jio revolutionized internet access with low-cost data, Ambani said the company is now focused on bringing AI to the masses at accessible rates.
Jio AI to Support Indian Languages
Mukesh Ambani emphasized that Jio AI will operate in multiple Indian languages, enabling farmers, students, youth, and small business owners to use AI in their native tongues. To this end, Jio has launched several language-focused platforms:
- Jio Shiksha AI – for education
- Jio Arogya AI – for healthcare
- Jio Krishi – for agriculture
- Jio Bharat IQ – for general use
These platforms aim to provide localized, AI-powered solutions that are practical for everyday use.
AI-Ready Data Center Park in Jamnagar
Ambani revealed that Jio is developing a phased, multi-gigawatt AI-ready data center park in Jamnagar, targeting 120 MW capacity by the end of 2026, which will later expand to gigawatt scale. The entire infrastructure will run on green energy. Jio plans to leverage its network to provide fast and cost-effective AI computational capabilities across India, serving individuals, schools, hospitals, shops, and farms.
India’s Potential as a 21st-Century AI Power
Ambani expressed confidence that India can become a leading AI power in the 21st century, provided the technology is affordable, accessible, and aligned with national needs. He described AI as a “modern Akshaya Patra,” capable of endless enrichment. Emphasizing its potential for job creation, he noted that AI will not replace jobs but generate opportunities in high-skill sectors.
He also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, saying that AI-based development initiatives could accelerate India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and serve as a model for the Global South.
