Leveraging artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies, the Army has developed a range of applications designed not only for military use but also with dual-use potential for civilian purposes. These innovations are being showcased at the India AI Impact Summit.
The AI-powered systems cover diverse areas such as education, disaster management, cyber security, transport safety, and the protection of digital infrastructure. All applications are developed in-house, demonstrating the Army’s commitment to self-reliance and technological advancement.
Key AI Innovations Introduced by the Army:
- Vehicle Tracking System: An AI-enabled fleet monitoring platform that integrates GPS telemetry, data analytics, and a real-time dashboard. It assists in convoy monitoring, logistics optimization, and route planning.
- Deepfake Video Detection System: Uses AI to analyze facial and signal patterns to detect manipulated or fake videos, aiming to counter misinformation and deceptive propaganda.
- Proactive Mobile Security System: AI-driven mobile protection that identifies abnormal activities, malware threats, and suspicious data transmissions. It enhances operational communication security and reinforces cyber infrastructure.
- XFace (AI Facial Recognition System): An AI-based identity verification system that rapidly confirms identities through images and videos. It supports military base security, surveillance, and authentication processes.
- Driver Fatigue Detection: A robust, portable AI device that detects driver fatigue or drowsiness in real time and issues immediate alerts, ensuring safety in long drives and challenging terrains.
- AI-in-a-Box: A compact, deployable high-compute platform that can run AI models locally in secure or offline environments. Useful for remote operational zones, rural administrative centers, industrial automation sites, and disaster-affected areas.
- SAM-UN (Situational Awareness Module for UN): A web-based platform integrating geospatial intelligence, structured reporting, and AI analytics. It provides officers with real-time, actionable information for mission planning, monitoring, coordination, and rapid response. Particularly valuable for disaster management centers, emergency coordination hubs, and smart city control rooms.
- PRAKSHEPAN: An AI-driven military climate and disaster forecasting system capable of predicting landslides, floods, and avalanches 3–7 days in advance. It offers precise, location-specific risk assessments for sensitive operational areas.
With these initiatives, the Indian Army is not only modernizing its own operational capabilities but also creating technologies that can benefit the wider public, marking a significant step toward a technologically empowered nation.
