UPI apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm offer an AutoPay feature, allowing payments for mobile recharges, utility bills, OTT subscriptions, EMIs, and mutual fund SIPs to be deducted automatically. While this feature saves time and prevents missed payments, it can sometimes lead to unintended deductions if payments continue for services you no longer need.
Fortunately, all three apps allow users to cancel or pause AutoPay easily. Here’s how:
Two Ways to Stop AutoPay
- Cancel: Permanently disables AutoPay for a service, though it can be reactivated later.
- Pause: Temporarily stops AutoPay for a defined period.
How to Cancel AutoPay in Paytm
- Open the Paytm app and go to your Profile.
- Scroll down and click on UPI Settings.
- Select Automatic Payment or Payment Management.
- Choose the payment you want to cancel and click Cancel Automatic Payment, then confirm.
How to Cancel AutoPay in Google Pay
- Open Google Pay and click on the You tab on the right.
- Scroll down and select AutoPay.
- Navigate to the Live section under Live, Pending, and Complete tabs.
- Select the service and click Cancel AutoPay, then enter your UPI PIN.
How to Cancel AutoPay in PhonePe
- Open the PhonePe app and tap on the Profile icon at the top left.
- Scroll down and click Manage Payment.
- Under More Options, select AutoPay.
- In the Ongoing tab, you will see all active AutoPay services.
- Select the service you wish to cancel and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Enter your UPI PIN to confirm cancellation.
By following these steps, users can regain control over automatic deductions, avoiding unwanted charges and managing their subscriptions more effectively.
