Following the presentation of Union Budget 2026, leaders from India’s technology and electronics sector have welcomed the government’s push toward manufacturing, innovation, and skill development — while stressing that timely implementation will be critical to achieving real impact.
Executives from companies including Lava, LG, Tecno, SPPL, and Bharti Enterprises shared their views, describing the budget as ambitious but emphasizing the importance of execution.
Push for Electronics Manufacturing Welcomed
Sanjeev Agarwal, Executive Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer at Lava International, called the expansion of the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) to ₹40,000 crore a positive step toward strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
However, he added that the success of the scheme will depend on infrastructure readiness and timely rollout. “The real benefit will come only if supporting infrastructure is developed and policies are implemented on schedule,” he said.
“A Budget That Carries Everyone Forward”
Bharti Enterprises Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal described Budget 2026 as a bold and inclusive plan. He highlighted the emphasis on skill development, science, research, and innovation as timely interventions that will strengthen domestic capabilities.
According to Mittal, continued investment in these areas will help India reduce dependence on imports and build long-term industrial resilience.
Strengthening the Supply Chain
Sanjay Chitkara, Co-CSMO of LG Electronics India, said the budget reinforces India’s ambition to become a global high-tech manufacturing hub. He pointed to duty relaxations, MSME funding support, and infrastructure improvements as measures that will strengthen supply chains and improve industry competitiveness.
Boost for Smartphone and Semiconductor Sectors
Arijeet Talapatra, CEO of Tecno India, said the country’s growing focus on semiconductors and advanced manufacturing will open large-scale employment opportunities. He noted that initiatives such as Semiconductor Mission 2.0 and supply chain investments will support long-term affordable innovation in the smartphone sector.
Call for Execution Over Announcements
Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO of SPPL, offered a note of caution, saying India must move beyond policy announcements and focus on implementation to compete globally. He emphasized that design-linked incentives and component localization are essential for strengthening the value chain.
Industry observers say the consensus among technology leaders is clear: Budget 2026 has laid an ambitious roadmap, but its success will ultimately depend on how efficiently policies translate into action.
