Fake AI Video Claims PM Modi Is Giving Free Scooties to Women; PIB Fact Check Warns Public

February 14, 2026: A fake AI-generated video claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing free scooties to women is circulating widely on social media. The video alleges that women earning below ₹50,000 per month would be eligible under a government scheme. However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check has confirmed the video is completely fabricated and warned citizens not to fall for such misinformation.

AI-Generated Video Looks Real
AI-generated videos have become increasingly sophisticated, making it difficult to distinguish fake content from reality. In this case, the video, shared by the Instagram handle ‘rounakkumartalks’, appears to show the Prime Minister announcing the free scooty scheme. PIB clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that this video is false and no such government program exists at present.

Use Official Channels to Verify Government Schemes
To check legitimate government welfare schemes, citizens are advised to visit the official portal myScheme.gov.in. This digital platform provides information on both central and state government schemes based on personal details such as age, gender, income, occupation, social category, and state of residence. The portal ensures that users do not need to navigate multiple websites to find accurate information.

How to Use MyScheme Portal

  1. Open the myScheme portal on your device.
  2. Click on “Find Schemes for You.”
  3. Enter the required details including age, income, state, and other relevant information.
  4. The portal will display a list of schemes applicable to you based on your profile.

Takeaway: Social media users are urged to verify government announcements through official channels before sharing or acting on AI-generated content. Falling for fake AI videos can lead to misinformation and potential scams.
