Elon Musk Criticizes Apple-Google AI Collaboration to Upgrade Siri

Apple has partnered with Google to make its voice assistant Siri smarter by integrating Google’s AI model, Gemini. In a joint statement, both companies confirmed that Gemini will serve as the foundation for enhancing Siri’s capabilities. Following this announcement, Elon Musk expressed strong concerns on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the potential power imbalance this collaboration could create.

Apple-Google Deal: What It Means

The multi-year agreement will benefit both tech giants. Apple, which has lagged behind in the AI assistant race, will gain access to Google’s advanced AI capabilities, while Google can expand its reach beyond Android devices to iOS platforms as well.

According to MacRumors, the Gemini model will act as a foundational AI framework for Apple, complementing its existing integration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in Apple devices. With this move, Google gains the opportunity to extend its influence into iOS, while Apple strengthens Siri’s competitive edge in the rapidly evolving AI assistant market.

Elon Musk Raises Concerns

Elon Musk reacted sharply on X following the announcement. He expressed worry that the collaboration could make Google “overly powerful,” pointing to its existing dominance with Android and Chrome. Musk’s company, xAI, is also competing to establish its AI presence across platforms including iOS, making Apple-Google’s partnership a strategic challenge for his venture.

User Privacy Remains a Priority

Concerns have emerged about potential privacy implications of this deal. Apple clarified that the enhanced Siri will operate only on Apple devices and private cloud computation, ensuring that user data remains secure. Apple emphasized that this collaboration does not compromise its longstanding commitment to user privacy.

The upgraded Siri, powered by Gemini, is expected to launch with iOS 26.4, promising users a smarter and more intuitive voice assistant experience while maintaining Apple’s strict privacy standards.

This Apple-Google AI alliance marks a significant shift in the tech landscape, signaling deeper collaboration between two of the world’s most influential companies in shaping the future of AI-powered personal assistants.
