China Develops World’s Fastest Humanoid Robot, Bolt, Capable of Running 10 Meters per Second

Chinese robotics company MirrorMe Technology has claimed that its humanoid robot, Bolt, is the fastest running humanoid robot in the world. In laboratory tests, Bolt reportedly covered 10 meters in just one second, showcasing an unprecedented speed for a bipedal robot. A video demonstrating Bolt’s performance has also been released.

Humanoid robots are designed to walk and run on two legs, mimicking human movements. Bolt, weighing 75 kilograms and standing at 5 feet 7 inches, displays remarkably human-like motion, using its arms and head to maintain balance while sprinting.

MirrorMe shared footage on social media platform X showing a race between a human and Bolt. While the human stumbled mid-race, Bolt effortlessly covered the distance, highlighting its superior speed and agility.

Key Features of Bolt:

  • Achieves a top speed of 10 meters per second
  • Demonstrated the ability to outrun a human in lab tests
  • Weighs 75 kg and measures 5’7’’
  • Moves with human-like gait
  • Adjusts arms and head to maintain balance

Purpose Behind Bolt:
According to media reports, MirrorMe aims to develop “super robots” capable of performing at or above human athletic levels. The company envisions applications in sports training, where robots like Bolt could assist athletes in practice.

Previous Achievements:
MirrorMe’s earlier robot, Black Panther II, completed 100 meters in 13.17 seconds, surpassing speeds achieved by well-known robots from Boston Dynamics. While Bolt’s performance is currently limited to lab tests, it could signal a new era of high-speed humanoid robotics.

Fact File:

  • China hosted its first Humanoid Robot Games last year, where Tien Kung completed a 100-meter race in 21.5 seconds.
  • MirrorMe Technology was founded in 2024 and is headquartered in Shanghai, with Zhejiang University contributing to its core team.
  • The company also has robots named Baobao, Apollo, and Black Panther II, though none are currently available for commercial use.
