The AI PC market in India is accelerating at an unprecedented pace. According to International Data Corporation (IDC), 4.9 million PC units were shipped in the third quarter of 2025, setting a new record for quarterly shipments in the country.
Why AI PCs Are Becoming a Trend
AI PCs are computers equipped with dedicated Neural Processing Units (NPUs), enabling them to handle AI-related tasks—such as image processing, video editing, voice commands, transcription, real-time translation, and data analysis—directly on the device. This reduces dependence on cloud services or the internet, making everyday computing faster and more efficient.
Brahmansh Yadav from New Delhi reports that whether it’s first-time buyers or large enterprises, everyone is showing a strong preference for AI-enabled PCs. The rising demand is fueled by both the holiday season sales and the growing popularity of AI-powered notebooks and desktops.
Benefits Driving Growth
Dinesh Sharma, Vice President of Commercial PC and Smartphones at Asus India, explains that users today seek not just hardware but smart computing experiences. AI PCs simplify routine tasks and provide a smoother experience for students, professionals, and small businesses.
“People are prioritizing AI PCs whether they are buying their first computer or upgrading an older one. The growing demand is driving growth across the PC industry,” said Sharma. He added that in the coming years, AI PCs will expand beyond the premium segment into mid-range computers as well.
AI-Supported Notebooks See Rapid Growth
IDC data shows that shipments of AI-enabled notebooks grew 126.5%, with consumer PC shipments reaching 2.8 million units in Q3 2025. The commercial segment also grew 11.4% year-on-year.
Asus captured 10.2% of the Indian PC market in the third quarter, ranking among the top five brands and securing second place in the consumer segment.
With AI capabilities becoming a key factor in purchase decisions, AI PCs are set to become the “ace up the sleeve” for India’s computer industry.
