AI Glasses Take China by Storm: 80% Sales Surge During Spring Festival

The AI gadget revolution is gaining momentum, and AI glasses are leading the charge. During China’s Spring Festival, sales of AI glasses surged by 80%, driven by government subsidies and new technology adoption. From teachers to business executives, demand for these smart eyewear devices is soaring.

Record Revenue in Shenzhen

Shenzhen’s Qiangbei sub-district, the world’s largest electronics wholesale market, reported a 35% year-on-year increase in revenue during the Spring Festival. According to the 21st Century Business Herald Daily, the surge was primarily fueled by skyrocketing AI glasses sales.

Exploding Demand for AI Glasses

While drones and robots saw a 50% increase in sales, AI glasses outpaced them with 80% growth. This indicates that beyond traditional gadgets like smartphones, new technology products such as AI glasses and robots are becoming key revenue drivers. Consumers are increasingly embracing cutting-edge tech.

Subsidy Boosts Adoption

AI glasses have joined four major subsidy categories alongside smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. Subsidies are available for products priced under 6,000 yuan (~₹79,002), covering 15% of the sale price, with a maximum limit of 500 yuan per item. This financial incentive is helping accelerate adoption among users.

Popular Among Teachers and Executives

According to a report by Luoyang Daily, AI glasses are in high demand among teachers and business executives. The sector’s rapid growth is also supported by the entry of multiple companies in recent years.

Key Players Driving the Market

Major Chinese tech giants such as Alibaba Group Holding, Huawei Technologies, Xiaomi, and Baidu dominate the market. A Bank of America research report notes that over 80% of suppliers are Chinese manufacturers, indicating that consumer preferences and market demand are shifting toward advanced AI devices.

India Joins the AI Glasses Craze

The AI glasses trend is not limited to China. In India, the craze is growing steadily. At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Jio unveiled its AI glasses, Jio Frames, signaling that Indian companies are also recognizing and responding to rising demand.

With AI glasses becoming mainstream among professionals and tech enthusiasts, this segment is poised for global growth, reshaping how consumers interact with AI technology in daily life.
