AI Firm Anthropic Opens Office in India, Signaling Rapid Growth of AI Market

Artificial intelligence firm Anthropic has opened its first office in Bengaluru, marking its second global office after Tokyo. India is now the company’s second-largest market for its AI assistant, Claude, highlighting the country’s growing adoption of AI technologies. Alongside the office launch, Anthropic announced partnerships in the enterprise, education, and agriculture sectors.

According to the company, nearly half of Claude’s usage in India is focused on computational and mathematical tasks, including application development, modernizing systems, and deploying production software. Anthropic’s India Managing Director, Irina Ghosh, emphasized that India offers one of the best opportunities globally, thanks to its strong technical talent, extensive digital infrastructure, and a track record of using technology to improve lives. She added that these factors ensure that AI benefits reach the people and enterprises that need it the most.

Adapting AI Models for Indian Users
Recognizing India as Claude’s second-largest market, Anthropic announced in October 2025 that it would expand operations to the country. This expansion has since doubled the company’s revenue in India. To make Claude more useful for Indian users, Anthropic has improved training data for 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Urdu.

By opening a second office in India after Tokyo, Anthropic is sending a clear signal: the AI sector in India is growing rapidly, and the country represents a significant and high-potential market for AI companies worldwide.
