A tech expert in India has developed a unique AI-powered device that can summarize WhatsApp messages without opening them and even detect the sender’s mood. This innovation allows employees to quickly understand their boss’s long messages and gauge their tone—without alerting them that the message has been read. Reddit user u/Several-Virus4840 shared this invention on the r/DevelopersIndia subreddit.
How It Works
Often, lengthy messages from bosses can be overwhelming. This AI device condenses any long WhatsApp message into just five lines, providing a concise summary. It also analyzes the tone of the text, indicating whether the boss is in a good mood or frustrated. The best part: the device displays this information without marking the message as “read”, allowing users to review or ignore messages discreetly.
Device Features
The device features a small OLED touchscreen, where users can scroll through the summarized content. It uses a combination of low-cost hardware and software: WhatsApp messages are captured using the Baileys library and processed through the Grok Large Language Model (LLM) API to generate the summary and mood analysis. The information is then sent to a NodeMCU microcontroller, which displays it on the screen. A touch sensor allows users to refresh or scroll through messages. Even the power source is creatively repurposed from an old selfie stick battery.
Fun Side Project, Not Commercial
The tech expert clarified that the device is a side project for fun and is not intended for commercial sale. Its purpose is to provide a practical, humorous solution for everyday problems like dealing with lengthy WhatsApp messages from bosses.
DIY Possibility
For enthusiasts, the project’s code has been shared on GitHub, allowing anyone to create a similar device for personal use. This innovation demonstrates how Indian tech experts can develop creative, practical, and playful solutions for everyday challenges.
