
A recent survey by LocalCircles has revealed that 96% of WhatsApp users receive unwanted messages on a daily basis. These messages are either promotional in nature or outright spam. The survey was conducted across 324 districts, with participation from 42,000 people.
The findings come in the wake of the Supreme Court reprimanding WhatsApp over privacy concerns. According to the survey, only 4% of users reported that they do not receive any spam messages. Meanwhile, 54% said they receive 1–3 unwanted messages daily, 30% receive 4–7 messages, and 11% reported getting 8 or more spam messages every day. Interestingly, a large portion of these messages is being sent via WhatsApp Business accounts.

The survey highlights the growing challenge of managing spam messages on WhatsApp, despite users’ efforts to block or ignore them.
